European History Tutoring FAQ
European History is the study of Western Civilization, encompassing ancient Greece and Rome through World War II and the formation of the European Union. A lot of material is covered, including several similar-sounding proper nouns that many students struggle to keep straight. If you or your child are having a hard time in your European History course, Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a qualified European History tutor who can assist in the pursuit of your academic potential.
Here are some of the topics you can work on during European History tutoring sessions:
How ancient Greece and Rome served as precursors to modern civilization
The dominance of the Catholic Church during the Middle Ages
Why the English Reformation fundamentally changed England's society
The causes and effects of the French Revolution
The rise of Germany as a European power
The long-term effects of World War I and the Treaty of Versailles
The Rise of Fascism and World War II
How the Cold War affected major European powers
Unlike traditional classroom instruction, high school European History tutoring sessions may be tailored to your individual needs. If you understand the ancient world but have a hard time keeping all of England's King Henrys straight, your tutor may make flashcards to help you remember all of the proper nouns. You may also spend as much time on any given topic as you need to while working with a European History tutor, a luxury that classroom instructors cannot afford.
European History tutoring sessions also allow students to optimize their learning environment. If you are easily distracted by your classmates or smartphone, both can be removed from the equation while you are trying to concentrate on European History. You can also establish a personal rapport with a private tutor that you generally cannot with a teacher, enabling them to design study sessions with your individual needs in mind.
European History tutoring can also improve your study skills. For example, taking notes as you read (a technique called active reading) can help you retain more information from assigned readings. Likewise, outlining your thoughts before writing an essay can help ensure that you don't forget any important details.
If you've been looking for "European History tutoring near me," you have found an excellent educational resource. Varsity Tutors matches students with an independent tutor from our extensive database, ensuring that you get to work with somebody who meets your academic and scheduling needs. We also offer a Live Learning Platform to facilitate online study sessions. Call us today for more information!

Recent European History Tutoring Session Notes
Session 4: The student completed half of the homework assignment from the previous session, highlighting important material on the unit. Worked together to review the material. Went over how to take more succinct notes instead of writing down everything. I did a chapter of notes with her to give her an idea of what's important. Reviewed more test questions and went over incorrect answers together. Provided more homework (chapter 7 and 8) in review book to be read and notated to do more questions at our next session. Next session, we will review Ch 7 & 8, more questions and focus on 1 time period/1 empire.
French Revolution (1787-1815)
Louis XVI, Tennis Court Oath, Committee for Public Safety, Robespierre, Napoleon, Concert of Europe
Seemed to be successful at being able to internalize all of these topics and how they related to each other and the timeline.
Reviewed for upcoming Greek mythology test. I'd give the student a god's name, he'd tell me the major stories about them. He's got all the major characters and essentially all of the minor ones. Did a quick review of Spanish vocabulary, which he's also got very solidly. On Tuesday we're going to tackle science for the test later in the week.
She read her social studies chapter aloud. We discussed and she took notes through out the chapter. I had her put the notes in her own words for better comprehension. She read her book Tangerine aloud, and we discussed it so she will be ready this week for the class discussions and read aloud sessions.
Today's session commenced at 4:45 pm and concluded at 6:30 pm and consisted of the completion of the student's essay on Hammurabi's Code as well as the typing and printing of it. He continues to work on independent and creative thinking, but is very receptive of direction and guidance.
The student had a "treasure hunt" to complete about the state government of California. She did a good job finding good websites, but had trouble deciphering the political language. We spent much of them time picking through paragraphs, translating their meaning, and deciding what was important. She then made an outline with her answers.
