Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we worked on some homework problems. Topics included rotational motion (angular velocity and acceleration, centripital forces and accelerations)."
"This was the first meeting with the student and it went well! Started by looking at his current assignment (forces in two dimensions) and deconstructed that to talk more fundamentally about forces and vectors in order to give him a better basic understanding. Proceeded on to work through practice problems in two dimensions"
"We went over a worksheet that the student received in study hall to do because her physics teacher was out for the week. In addition, we reviewed a worksheet the student got in calculus class to make sure she understood how to do the problems properly."
"Today was the student's final session before her midterm. We went over Doppler effect and standing waves, and she seemed to really grasp the material. In fact, she was a little concerned at how easily it came to her! I'm sure she'll get the B in this class she was hoping for."
"Today we discussed concepts and calculations for objects in orbital motion. We began by deriving and discussing Kepler's law of orbital motion and the proportional relationship between the square of the period and the cube of the orbital radius. We then completed some additional problems that solved for: gravitational field, orbital period, escape velocity, and orbital energy."
"Today we reviewed thermodynamics and the energy of a system. In particular, the topic of initial internal energy of an ideal gas system was discussed, as well as the work done to change the total energy of the system given certain constrained transitions, like isothermic."
