Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Worked through a problem set that she was assigned. Also went over her lab report and discussed the format her responses should be in."
"We started talking about different optics subjects, as well as certain quantum topics such as the photoelectric effect, de Broglie wavelength, and uncertainty principle. We spent most of the session covering Snell's law, internal reflection, and light speed through mediums."
"Today we covered the interpretation of position and velocity vs time graphs. On his current homework he had a solid understanding of the math behind the conservation of energy equations. I gave him a lesson to strengthen that knowledge and we worked on practice problems to reinforce that knowledge. By the end, the student seemed to have much more confidence in his conceptual understanding of potential and kinetic energy. I left him with our notes and his homework is to finish the four practice problems."
"Today, the student and I worked on the digestive system and memorizing key terms. She had a positive attitude. I told her the methods I used back when I took this class."
"Today, we covered a few topics regarding our last topic of Special Senses including the visual pathway, visual field defects, and photoreceptor characteristics. After this, we started new material. I went over the endocrine system, covering topics which include hormonal regulation, HPA axis, and anterior vs posterior pituitary gland. The student is doing very well and states she likes the study guides I have created for her. She feels they have been helpful. She is doing really well. Her attitude toward the material is always receptive and engaged. I am creating a mock exam for her that we will cover in our next session. Great session!"
"Today, we discussed the strategies we were using, and the student said she really feels our work is helping her. In spite of the fact that she only needs about 30 points to pass the test, she is wholeheartedly committed and engaged with this effort. For our practice, we used a set of flashcards that I made specially for her. I used the landmarks we had studied last week, along with anatomical terms of position and regions of the body, to make the deck. I spent some time going over the specifics of the site, and we used the rest to go through the cards. After we finished, we pulled up some other decks from the site on bones and worked our way through them. She has requested an additional session this Thursday, and I am happy to oblige."
