Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is still practicing his handwriting and high frequency words, so for the first 30 minutes he practiced hand writing within his book. For the last 30 minutes we got creative and made a word search with his high frequency words. His homework assignment is to complete the two pages of handwriting I assigned."
"Student and I worked on the -eigh and -igh sounds. We also continued when y- makes an e sound and when y- makes an i sound in one and two syllable words. I've been starting to give her some practice to do in between sessions such as reading through the binder of phonics rules for review/practice. Revisiting rules helps her master them, and I've seen progress when she recognizes rules from previous sessions. She'll recognize the sounds from the rule in words we read in books or her own sentences she creates."
"The student had an amazing session today. She wrote over ten sentences based on a title of "Where Is Sam". She wanted to continue her writing for almost the entire session. Her writing had a beginning, middle and end, which is important at this level. In addition, she worked on rhyming endings and initial consonants.. We ended with a paragraph followed by comprehension questions."
