Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed substitution and elimination reactions in organic chemistry, as well as the basics of IR and NMR spectroscopy."
"We discussed the difference between Type I and Type II errors, using tests and research studies to define false positives and negatives, sensitivity, specificity, and the types of errors and the relationship of beta and power. The student is a little unsure of the material, but I assured him it takes a few rounds of looking at it for it to sink in."
"We covered the biopsychosocial approach vs. biomedical approach generally, as well as a few specific concepts that came up in Lecture 1 of the student's booklet (e.g., constructionism, symbolic interactionism, and functionalism vs. structuralism). The student was surprised at how 'foreign' the information was, but she was genuinely interested in understanding it. For next week, the student is to write down any vocabulary that she missed in Lecture 1, take notes on Lecture 2, and respond to the practice problems that I will send her."
