Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I'm looking forward to working with this student and this subject matter. Today, we largely worked on Boolean logic and De Morgan's laws. We also discussed some circuit logic. Another session is planned for tomorrow."
"We finished up some d=rt, looked at common factors, geometry, consec integers, and some real difficult DS. The student is really thinking correctly about even the 650-700 range problems. Obviously, there are some errors to correct, but the student has been speedy and quite accurate."
"In this session, the student and I talked about some specific math concepts she was having trouble with from her homework, and also talked about some general strategy for the quantitative comparison questions. In particular, we reviewed problems related to averages, sequences, and functions. We talked about the two main strategies of setting up a "vs" statement and plugging in numbers for the quantitative comparison problems. She enjoyed discussing these strategies and believes they will be very helpful for her when she attempts future practice sets."
"The student and I began by going over a number of problems from a practice test that she had struggled taking earlier this week. I went over each question in detail with her and discussed how to find the solution and the math concepts involved. After this, we went through a new practice math section. At the beginning, she struggled to consider all the possibilities for a given problem, but she improved greatly towards the end and just needed help with a few problems."
"Today we started covering the 7th grade curriculum. We went over more ratios and proportions and we started covering point slope. The student seemed to be a little confused with this, but she is starting to understand. She is always very positive and cares about her education, which is great. Today, I showed Sasha many tools to find the slope and the y-intercept of a line. I will send her practice problems tomorrow. I also sent her notes to use as she does the practice problems. She is positive about learning!"
"We focused mostly on sequences for today's session. The student sent me some practice problems he wanted explained. We also went over the homework I assigned him last week on polygons. He will take a practice GMAT test over the weekend, and let me know how it goes during our last session next week."
