Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Last night we covered a few recursion practice problems, and a couple involving String manipulation, and the basics of bit-shifting and two's complement interpretation of binary numbers."
"The student finished up the Coin and one of the power up classes. He made a powerup that increases the player's speed for 1000 frames. He also began making a start screen for the game that consists of a button, of which he made the class."
"We completed the student's first assignment and talked about how to implement her second assignment."
"We went over topics that the student's test was going to be on. The fundamentals like variables, types, and the programming process were covered during this session. He seemed to learn these topics quickly. We also covered for loops, nested for loops, and while loops by teaching him through the problems from his class. He seemed to already have some understanding of the material, but he just needed someone to help guide him through the problems and put what he knows together. I think he just needs to practice and do some homework given to him in class, and he'll be fine."
"Today, we reviewed for the final exam and went over operator overloading, how comparison operators work, friend methods of a class, and setw in iomanip for outputting data in a table format. The student was able to complete the final assignment, but he had some problems with the output formatting at first. He knew what the solution was, but he didn't know where the teacher expected the solution to go. As we were working through the problem, he realized where the solution should go and was able to completely solve the final assignment in the way that the teacher would expect."
"The student and I worked on concepts such as class inheritance, interfaces, lists, and recursion. These questions were a mixture of multiple choice and free response. He did very well overall and was engaged during our session asking pertinent questions. I am confident he will do well on his upcoming exam."
