"The student had a test last week and she said she thinks it went well. She said it was the SAT format. So I think its more of an application of the knowledge that she needs to work on now, as she knows the material; she is very bright. So we started looking at the SAT subject test workbook and going through topics in there. We covered intermolecular interactions and different types of forces and bonds (Van Der Waals, H bonds, di-pole moments) and the impact of each of these, and phases of matter and particle movement. In the beginning of each review the book highlights key concepts that the student should be able to do/or explain. This was really good to go over as some of the questions are difficult to decipher so it is good practice for her. She also had a class worksheet drawing Lewis dot structures of different molecules, so we went over this together. She always asks excellent questions and I enjoy our sessions. She is eager to learn and we usually go ahead of where her teacher is but she said she finds this helpful as her teacher doesn't explain things very well."
"Today we worked on linear momentum. He just had a test, so he didn't have anything to work on. Instead we just talked about theory and did a few example problems. We went over conservation of momentum, the force/momentum theorem, impulse, elastic collision, and inelastic collisions. He did the example problems correctly so I think he understands the concepts."
"We talked briefly about his current status in Calc/Phys classes. Then we jumped right into solving problems again, this time reviewing exam 1 (kinematics & Newton's law) and the corresponding book problems."
