Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over the student's test. He improved in both the physical sciences and biological sciences section. However he still made the common mathematical errors or misreading the question. Today his homework is to go over the bacterial biology portion of the Science section."
"The student and I resumed his review for the MCAT. He recently finished up the chemistry section of the review. We went over every problem he had trouble with. After that section, we bounced around to many different topics. Some main topics we ended up going through more thoroughly were molecular geometries and orbitals, carbohydrates, and isomers."
"Reviewed verbal reasoning section together in detail. Analyzed mistakes made and determined that many missed answers were ones where the phrasing wasn't fully understood. An effective strategy we discussed is to prove other choices incorrect. Reviewed biology section from last weekend."
"We reviewed his previous practice test, in which he scored a 25. We went through his mistakes for each section and focused on strategies for the upcoming week."
"The student and I covered the remainder to chapter 3 (incline planes and pulleys) and started chapter 4 (Center of mass, centripetal acceleration, centripetal force). We also reviewed projectile and motion problems using the Newtonian equations and tried several free-standing practice problems."
"We went over his entire practice exam that he recently took. Overall, his errors were a mixed bag: while he did make some noticeable simple mistakes, this constituted a fraction of his total incorrect errors. Most of the questions alluded to a deficiency in the understanding of content, primarily in the biochemistry topics. He continues to have difficulty with more passage-based questions which require analytical thinking rather than drawing from his content base, and this is something that he needs to continue to diligently work on going forward. I instructed him to please review the rest of his practice test questions and to complete another practice test by next Monday if he can."
