Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We focused on some verbs that she has learned recently and put them into context. We used general review, fill-in-the-blank, and translation exercises with restaurant-related verbs."
"We did a lot of review and play today. We started out playing a puzzle game with words in Spanish that they needed to find. After that, Student 1 decided to create a writing game; he used the dictionary to come up with some very creative games! In the meantime, Student 2 and I used flashcards. She picked out words from the dictionary to quiz me as well. Finally, they wanted to pull out a building block creation game, so I used it to introduce several new words!"
"In this session we practiced answering questions in full sentences. This exercise is new to him. He is used to answering "yes" or "no" or "sometimes" in English. By reinforcing this, he will start articulating his thoughts using a "verb" + "object.""
"The first student and I started the session reviewing the present perfect and his vocabulary words. We also worked on some reading comprehension and translation exercises. I then worked with the second student on reading comprehension because he has an upcoming test. We worked through the reading comprehension exercises in his book. Both students have homework from me to complete: the first student is to complete several exercises practicing his vocabulary and the preterit/imperfect tenses, and the second is to practice his reading comprehension, using stories from his textbook in preparation of his upcoming test."
"In this session we began by reviewing regular verbs. I gave her a list of regular verbs to conjugate, -ar, -er, and -ir verbs. I also asked her to focus on the pronunciation of the words in respect to the vowels, which determine the word's sound. Finally, we finished with some reading and comprehension exercises where she had to read small paragraphs and answer questions related to the information given."
"We discussed the themes "Literatur" and "Wandern." The worksheets and questionnaires served as exercise tools. New vocabularies were clarified before completing the assignments and German culture was discussed."
