Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, I helped the student's sister with multiplication. She is very bright and caught on quickly to the tricks I taught her. I then worked with the student on her math test corrections. She was making simple errors that we were able to talk about and solve. Both girls were a pleasure to work with as always!"
"Today, I met the student who had all of her math work ready for me to review. She had a good grasp on the concepts she will be quizzed on tomorrow. I look forward to working with her and making our experience engaging."
"Today, I wanted to focus on the student's multiplication tables so that she really learns them. I had her count by twos, and then by threes repeatedly with each question. We did flashcards, book problems, and verbal questions to try to reinforce it in her memory without losing her focus or patience. I want to try using an incentive (she told me she liked candy) to get her to participate and focus better. I left her some homework problems to do over the weekend."
"Today, she and I reviewed past material and looked ahead to her next unit of study in mathematics. This past week in math class, she had a lot of pre-tests so she had no weekend homework. Her next unit in mathematics is going to deal with conversions, and I just introduced ML, L, Kg, G, Km, and m."
"Today, she and I worked on two-step word problems, especially how to tell which operation to use for each step. Then, as requested, we read from her Jewel Princess book. Today, our comprehension activities included analyzing the villain's motives and drawing the fairy, and then labeling based on her description in the story. She was very enthusiastic and we had a fun session."
"Today, student one and I worked on Language Arts - commas/conjunctions. She did very well with this concept. Student two and I worked on reading comprehension. I'm seeing some great improvements in his ability to indicate supporting evidence in answering questions."
