Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the lecture slides on unemployment. We covered the different types of unemployment, factors of structural unemployment, the limitations of the unemployment rate as an indicator of labor market health, and unemployment insurance."
"We reviewed for the student's unit test. Defined random variable and mutually exclusive. We identified the conditions for using binomial, multinomial, poisson, geometric, hypergeometric, normal distributions. Converted from normal to standard normal. Used calculator to find factorials, permutations, combinations, poisson probability, standard normal cumulative probability."
"We reviewed how to find the mean and standard deviation of discrete probability distributions. We also covered how to find probabilities, mean, and standard deviation for binomial distributions. The student does well with solving problems, but is having some trouble with the concepts. He needs additional practice to boost his confidence in the subject material. We'll work on that in future sessions."
"We reviewed hypothesis testing for independent means. We practiced solving a problem using the effective score testing method, which is not hypothesis testing, but rather a test that is used if we can assume that the groups are indeed different."
"We reviewed material from the student's last exam, which involved probability, expectations, combinations, binomial distribution, permutations, independence/dependence, and mutual exclusivity. She seems to be doing really well with these concepts. We also started to prepare for her upcoming exam by working on problems for z-scores. We have a review session scheduled for Tuesday. I think she will do great on her exam."
"We reviewed percentages from a normal density as well as computing z-scores. The student's attitude was positive. He was a very good student. We covered some technology concepts that hopefully will be helpful."
