Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued preparation for the final with problems including quadratic equation solutions, simplifying rational expressions, factoring by grouping, elimination and substitution solutions to solving two equations with two unknowns, etc."
"We finished the homework assignment dealing with geometric an arithmetic sequences, and moved back to a homework assignment dealing with logarithms and exponents. We discussed several rules and identities concerning logarithms, and worked through some problems. The student is working hard and doing well with problems after we worked through an example together; practice will be key before his final."
"We specifically covered statistics concepts including probability, standard deviation, variance and mean. The student was struggling the most with how to calculate standard deviation, but we went over it extensively. He seemed to be more confident about all material covered after we were through with the section. We mainly worked on worksheets for his statistics unit that were provided by his teacher. They seemed to be good study aids and really drove home the concepts. It was a great first session and I am excited to continue working with him."
"We continued going over the rest of his practice problems, and we did a lot more trig problems. I reminded him to always identify which side is opposite and adjacent from the angle. We also worked on areas of figures and that he shouldn't forget 1/2 when calculating the area of a triangle."
"I assisted the student with his ACT prep. We went over science and English, and he did better on the science during this session than last session. He did a great job on the English, only missing a few problems out of about 15 questions. I assigned him some science homework, and gave him some advice on how to tackle the science section. He did a great job today."
"In this session, the student and I covered the rules regarding exponents. She learns quite quickly when taught with more metaphorical explanations. For example, she seemed to take to seeing exponents as a type of fraction. We went through her homework, and was confident about her upcoming quiz. We were both very happy with her progress!"
