Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Worked hard on the essay, going over writing exercises, structural games, sentence structures, etc. Then dipped back into math and science for review."
"I tutored the student for an hour today. We did a few problems in all areas and a brief review of geometry. I have emailed her detailed and brief notes on all topics for SAT/ACT. She is more than welcome to email or text me with any questions or problems before her ACT test this Saturday."
"We spent the majority of the time reviewing science and math problems the student had missed in previous practice tests. She does well with reading graphs and tables in the science section. In math, we reviewed special triangles and practiced solving geometry problems. She had not worked on writing at all with her past tutor, so we talked through pre-writing strategies and ways to address counterarguments in a way that maintains a clear position on the presented issue. She felt confident about the writing section. Finally, we reviewed general test-taking strategies and suggestions for the morning of the test."
"We reviewed the practice test the boys took over the weekend. The main concern is keeping up a level of high intensity after working through previous sections. We will keep working on this. We then finished up by working through more vocabulary."
"We started off by reviewing vocabulary words and talking about the logistics of the tests. We corrected some practice sections she did in the book, going over any questions she got wrong. We then continued doing a reading section, a verbal section, and a math section from her book. We also reviewed an essay I had her write for homework in preparation for the test. I shared some tips about essay organization and what they look for when they are grading the written portion. Overall, the student has been doing a great job. She is very bright and I think she will do exceptionally well on the test."
"We started our session with math problems, completing the section. We then moved to reading, where we reviewed the steps for answering questions in this section. We also worked on some strategies on the best way to approach reading passages. For homework, the student should complete the writing prompt, complete Section 2, and do Section 4. She should also complete Section 1."
