Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started a discussion of quantum chemistry. We discussed line spectra, diffraction, and NMR and how these can be used to analyze chemical substances."
"Topics: activity and equilibrium chemistry. Progress: reviewed chapter for an upcoming test and worked practice problems."
"The student and I began by discussing issues she is currently having in her chemistry course. She was most concerned about balancing equations, stoichiometry, and going from word to symbol form for chemical compounds. We began by practicing balancing equations and went through each step using a chart to help organize the information. I gave her some problems that involved only the chemical names and she had to come up with the symbol form in order to balance the equation. We then discussed stoichiometry and how to convert our answers into a form we wanted or could use. After learning to set up the problems for stoichiometry, she did much better! As we went through, I also drilled her on the different types of chemical reactions, and she knew all of these very well."
"The student and I reviewed Chapter 3 in chemistry. She informed me that she has a final on the 12th of January. Our goal is to review at least one chapter per week to prepare for her final. This particular chapter was covering atomic theory and ion composition. Overall, it was a productive tutoring session."
"Today, we had a science review session in order to gear up for the new semester. I gave Student 1 questions about molar conversion and percent composition. For Student 2, I gave him dihybrid cross problems."
"The student and I worked through her practice chemistry test. We reviewed how to calculate the volume of gas generated with a stochastic formula. We then worked through her geometry problem set on rotations."
