The Indian Trail School System

Indian Trail, North Carolina, is a suburb of Charlotte with a population of over 33,000 residents. Most of Indian Trail’s top high schools fall under the supervision of the Union County Public Schools (UCPS), North Carolina’s sixth largest school district. UCPS has an enrollment of more than 40,000 students and employs around 5,000 educators. Several schools within the district are recognized nationally for their academic achievements, and the district’s graduation rate leads the state of North Carolina.

The public high schools in Indian Trail have student-to-teacher ratios that are higher than the state average. This can make it difficult for students to get the attention they need to excel. Indian Trail tutoring is one way to get individual support for these students.

Indian Trail Student-to-Teacher Ratios

Porter Ridge High School has a 22 1 student-teacher ratio.

If your child’s grades are slipping, it’s wise to get him or her the extra help needed as soon as possible. Though there are many do-it-yourself resources available to students, study aids like workbooks, videos, and study groups can’t offer your child the same benefits that come with private tutoring. Tutors are able to take the time to understand your child’s unique challenges, strengths, learning style, and goals. Armed with this knowledge, a tutor can formulate a path toward academic success that’s tailored to meet your child’s needs. During face-to-face in-person or online sessions, your son or daughter can learn in an environment that’s free of the distractions and pressures present in a typical classroom.

Indian Trail Test Scores

The table above shows the scores earned by Indian Trail students on the state-mandated End of Grade exams. Beginning in the third grade, all North Carolina students are required to take these exams at the end of each year. These standardized tests assess a student’s comprehension of the material he or she learned over the course of the school year. When students begin high school, they will start taking End of Grade exams that are more subject-specific, including tests for biology, civics and economics, mathematics, and English.

In addition to preparing for increasingly rigorous End of Grade assessments, students nearing high school graduation must also prepare for college admissions exams like the SAT and ACT. Preparation for any standardized test can be stressful, but the implications of a low score on an exam as important as the SAT or ACT can overwhelm students. If your child needs help kick-starting his or her review, consider enlisting the help of a private Indian Trail tutor. Working alongside a tutor who has real-life experience in the upcoming exam provides your child with tips, tricks, and insights that can help ease any pre-test jitters.

As a suburb of Charlotte, Indian Trail is close to many of the state’s top colleges. Tutors can be especially helpful to students enrolled in college-level courses.

Tutoring review by Gabriella in Indian Trail, NC
The student had a logic work sheet from school we went over. She did not have any other homework or material from school so we continued working on decimal multiplication and division. The student is really challenged with decimals and I think we should work on them more in the future. As always, the student was bright and enthusiastic.

Tutoring review by Scott in Indian Trail, NC
During this session we worked on geometry, multiplication, multiplying fractions, and early algebra. The student had a good attitude, and I really enjoyed working with him. Since the student has difficulty with math facts, we talked about breaking a fact into smaller parts, such as turning 7x6 in 7x3 then adding the answer twice. In our geometry practice, we discussed how to use other lengths to find unknown side measurements of a shape. In our session, we did many word problems, as well as math games to help change the pace and allow a break after a set of problems, and the student seemed to have a lot of fun with what I picked out. I think this was a good session, and I hope to prepare him for sixth grade math concepts over the next times we meet.

Tutoring review by Zach in Indian Trail, NC
I saw great improvement this session. We really took things a lot more slowly and approached the problems in smaller increments. This seemed to help a lot. We are doing ratios, rates, unit rates, and hopefully will be moving on to percents soon.

Tutoring review by Colbey in Indian Trail, NC
In this session, we reviewed the student's intervention critique using two social-behavioral theories as they pertain to childhood obesity. We discussed four studies conducted that utilized the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Social Cognitive Theory. She had already made tremendous progress on the paper, but we discussed ways to tighten up the language and formalize the public health tone (and terminology). We worked through the entire paper together, and we discussed a plan of action for her to use as she goes to finalize her last section.

Tutoring review by Anton in Indian Trail, NC
The student and I have been working through the test prep book to cover some of the mathematical concepts she has trouble with. Sometimes she wants the answer to come instantly, so I find myself walking through some problems with her. Identifying the tricks in the question is vital for success on this section.
