Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"SAT prep. Went over homework (1 reading, 1 writing, 2 math) and concepts. The student continues to excel. Will continue to work on thought processes, shortcuts, etc."
"Today, the student and I covered more math. He's getting better with graphs. We also did an essay. He's going to do more essays before our next session."
"Strategies and practice for reading comprehension questions, grammatical analysis of elements of a sentence and review of grammatical concepts covered in class, allusions in "Alas, Babylon.""
"The student is doing excellently in preparing for this test. We went over scrambled paragraphs, and she really started to get it. The reading, logic, and math aren't proving to be a problem - there are just some individual math problems that we go over to make sure she understands. I assigned her a practice test to do before I see her next so that we can assess her current state and do more practice problems after that."
"The student is entering 11th grade and is preparing to take her SAT. Based on scores from practice, I recommended that she take the October test. Her target score is near what she is already scoring. We reviewed missed math problems and discussed the overall approach to the math sections. Calculator use and plugging in was also discussed. We reviewed the overall process for the reading and language sections. We will continue to work on this next session."
"The student is extremely bright and has a knack for logic problems and math. She should concentrate on getting better at scrambled paragraphs (they are worth double the points of other questions, and there is no partial credit). She can and should do practice tests, and going one section per day should be adequate to keep her sharp while she's away. I look forward to working with her when she gets back - she's a serious and smart student. The math and verbal practice from the assessment exam should translate over to the ISEE and the SSAT."
