Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed for her semester exam. The topics included definite integrals, L'Hopital's rule, Newton's method, the fundamental theorem of calculus, definition of derivatives, and volume using the shells method. The exam is tomorrow."
"Lots and lots of math. We went through an actual ACT math test and did problems to review, familiarized ourselves with content, and learned concepts we hadn't seen before. I will make some review problems on lines with angles (complementary and supplementary angles), sequences, imaginary numbers, and quadratic equations. Awesome job! The student's math is impressive."
"Today we worked on learning new words through context clues, interviewing, paraphrasing and taking notes, finding mood, and parts of speech. The student did well in the session. She had a positive attitude throughout. She took good notes in the interview but had some struggle with proper conduct and taking notes quickly enough. She did well with the context clues worksheet. She is picking up the basics of reading for comprehension."
"The student did very well. We completed going over her practice GED test. She has ordered English grammar books, and a practice GED book. Her reading is getting stronger, and she is learning how to analyze passages to get the correct answer. It is a pleasure to work with her."
"Today, we went over the ACT English, specifically reviewing topics such as modifier word modified agreement errors, modifier word modified number errors, modified word modified countability errors, subject/ verb agreement errors, single subject errors, and verb tense errors. The student needed help with modified word agreement errors, so we went over a lot of those questions. She was receptive as usual! I left her with some study skills in this session, such as watching for time management and benchmarks in the test to get goal scores. I left her with English grammar rules to review, and some reading vocabulary."
"We finished up a math test from the other day, and started a new one. The student's mental math is strong, but he still needs to work on domain, trigonometric functions, trig identities, systems of equations, and geometry/ triangles/ trapezoids. There is definitely a lot of material to work on, though he's definitely internalized a few new subjects."
