Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed for the student's aptitude test. We reviewed example problems online in order to practice strategies for the exam."
"Excellent work on addition of decimals! Some confusion with multiplying decimals by multiples of 10 -- we had to go over which direction the decimal moves in."
"With Student 1, I helped him prepare for his upcoming quiz by giving him practice problems with exponents. With Student 2, we continued to practice algebra word problems."
"The student and I met at our regularly scheduled time. She had two homework assignments to complete. The first was 10 multiplication problems. She completed it with little help. She showed two problem-solving operations, per her teacher's direction. Upon completing the math homework, she began to work on a spelling packet due Friday. She was easily able to provide definitions of the word list and fill in missing word sentences. This was another positive and productive session wherein she was focused, diligent, and thorough in completion of her homework. She seemed to feel excitement about her work and what she was learning."
"We started our session by reviewing the student's Math homework for school. The homework consisted of adding two digit numbers and carrying. He did not write the number that was being carried, so I reminded him and had him write it in. He had to explain how he arrived at his answer in paragraph form, so we worked on that together. Next, I had him work on a counting coins worksheet that involved adding coins and dollar bills. I brought in play money so he could work with the manipulatives. Next, we completed a word problems worksheet that involved adding two digit numbers. He did well but tends to rush and jump ahead. I reminded him to work it out together with me so we don't have so much erasing to do."
"The student completed four of her math homework worksheets that involved review and practice of multiplying by two's and three's. I taught her the strategy of counting by 3's to solve multiplication problems involving 3. We also practiced her spelling words, read for 20 minutes including questions for comprehension and pausing to learn new vocab words, and studied addition flashcards."
