Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the second half of chapter 4. We practiced the vocabulary, grammar, and sentences from the chapter. We also practiced vocabulary from chapter 5."
"For this session covering the Chinese language we first reviewed what we discussed last session, repeating the same words, the numbers 1-10, and colors. Then we made a paper heart-shaped person and a paper ladybug to learn about related words like ladybug, face, feet, arms and legs. We covered basic greetings and courtesy words (hello, how are you, I'm fine, goodbye, thank you, you are welcome). We also covered animals, objects, nouns, and body parts. We also discussed adjectives and verbs."
"For the next session, we are going to cover the Chinese words for body parts and learn how to indicate things."
"Today, the student completed lesson 11. We started with our normal warm-up conversation, and I provided corrections when necessary. For today's lesson, we really focused on conversation and introducing a ton of new vocabulary. He is doing incredibly well during our conversations, and we rarely have to use English except to clarify or provide a difficult grammatical explanation. We talked about work and day-to-day activities, and used the conversation to introduce related vocabulary. We were able to use present tense, preterite tense, and we introduced the present perfect tense today. He is doing very well remembering how to respond to questions using the correct personal ending and the correct tense. I have seen a huge leap in his speaking confidence in the last few weeks, and he is able to communicate effectively with the vocabulary he has learned thus far."
"Today, we started talking about our last day. After that, I told him to choose 5 unknown words from the values vocabulary, and we started to talk about them and practiced them. The class ended like that, talking and making conversation about things in which we could use all those words. The student seems happy and optimistic. His extra practice is to create sentences using the new vocabulary."
"Today, we started working on the future tense, and we reviewed the present tense. The student did very well with the new stuff as well as the review. I have no concerns and plan to continue working with him on the future tense on Wednesday."
