Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I met with the student for the first time to discuss and study the SAT. We introduced the Sentence Completions and worked on a math section together."
"The student did very well on the homework we reviewed to start the session. Out of 12 Critical Reading passage based questions, she only missed two, and in both cases she picked an answer that was logical, just not the best choice. This is a marked improvement from past work, which the student herself noted. We discussed the benefits of practice and utilizing the skills we have talked about. Next we worked on improving sentences and identifying sentence errors, using exercises in the blue prep book. The student completed these very well, as she is familiar with parallel structure, subject-verb agreement, tense agreement, and other aspects of grammar. Then, we reviewed the sentence completion homework, on which she scored 9 out of 10, and missed the one she did only because of a confusion in the meaning of one of the choices. We ended the session with a vocabulary review, utilizing some of the words the student has been using in her Word Arithmetic work. Finally, the student completed a 30 question Critical Reading section, on which she scored 25 out of 30."
"The student worked on 2 Math sections and did well with the first one, missing only two. He also wrote an essay that was pretty good."
