Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was assigned a number of problems from her instructor on reactions in aqueous solution and we went through them today."
"We reviewed the test that the student recently took, covering concepts related to theoretical yield, stoichiometry, dimensional analysis, and nomenclature."
"During today's session, the topics covered included kinematics, equations of motion and kinetics. We went over some concepts and completed an assignment for class."
"The student and I got together today to finish reviewing for her Thermo 2 test tomorrow. She definitely felt much better about this material and didn't seem like she was as worried. Overall, I felt she had a strong grasp of the material and should do fine if she can keep her composure and not psych herself out."
"The student and I reviewed cellular respiration together. We began by drawing out the pathway naming enzymes, intermediates, and following the number of carbons and ATP produced. To test her understanding of the new material, I lead her through a practice quiz. The few questions she got wrong on the quiz were a really good learning tool for her to go back and fill in holes that she missed. After our session, I encouraged her to redraw the pathway and color code it to make it more of a visual learning tool rather than sheer memorization."
"The student and I reviewed centrifugal force. The student seemed to know little to nothing at the beginning of the session, but he made great progress during the tutoring session. The student struggles with understanding the questions and setting up the proper equations to solve the problem in hand. The student has very few materials to work with and review. I instructed the student to write everything down. Write all of the equations that may work and those which may help solve the problem. The student mentioned that he feels more comfortable with the subject now than before we started the sessions."
