Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student had her rough draft finished for her English paper. We skimmed through it and fixed a few formatting errors. I had her proofread the paper, checking for grammar, spelling, paragraph structure, citations, and that overall, it made sense. I asked her to print me a copy when she was finished so that I could proofread it for her. We also went over the literature homework and did a few drills on multiplication."
"We completed his science worksheet. He did well changing the DNA to RNA to protein. We also continued to work on his social studies review. He needs to keep working on the vocab and studying. I suggested maybe having him write his outline as a way to review the notes. He's having a test next week hopefully he will study over the weekend."
"I covered the homework math assignment with the student including finding the volumes of sphere, cylinder, cone; explaining the Pythagorean Theorem and finding the missing sides of the triangles and finding the areas of largest squares. I covered some science with the student; I explained the difference between Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes and the Membrane-Bound Organelles."
"The student and I again worked on her vocabulary. I quizzed her on all of her words and challenged her to come up with sentences and synonyms for the words we used. We then read Wonder and wrote a summary of the selection. I helped her explain the main events and their importance."
"Homework assistance was provided in the area of reading comprehension. Specifically, an informational text was read with the student. Factual questions and a question regarding author's purpose was completed. Guidance was provided related to using parts of the question to respond, using a complete statement, and referring to the text. Additionally, the student developed three sentences related to the power of the main character from a class reading, Poppy. Multiplication fluency was practiced via an app."
"For today's session, I worked with Student 1 on math and language arts. She stayed very focused today and worked very hard as usual. I worked with Student 2 on math homework. He worked very hard."
