Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked reviewed questions for chapters 1 and 4, and I cleared up some concepts that were not clear."
"I met with the student to cover the topics from the previous week. She seems to have a great grasp on the material so far. We discussed what assistance she will need when it comes time to study for quizzes, prepare presentations, and write papers."
"In today's session, we covered pulleys and friction. We solved problems using free body diagrams and separating forces into components. We also applied Newton's laws to conceptual problems."
"Today we reviewed some concepts and questions from fluid statics and fluid dynamics. Mostly, we discussed concepts in buoyancy and buoyant forces, Bernoulli's principle, and Archimedes' principle. We did discuss some other information regarding the design and construction of a model Maglev train using simple materials as an extra credit project."
"Today we went over some more friction forces homework problems to give her more practice before her test tomorrow. We also did a practice problem to help solidify the procedure for problems like these."
"Today we went over the student's homework on biological macromolecules. She seemed to struggle a little bit with retaining information, but since we covered a lot of material today, she should be able to remember more over time. She is a very attentive student, and clearly wanted to learn the information, even though she does not have a high interest in science. I was pleased that she took notes on my explanations for future reference. From what she told me about her teacher and the format of the class, I am concerned that she does not have access to all of the resources she needs (i.e. a textbook, office hours with her teacher, or the assurance that her teacher will respond to emails) to acquire a solid understanding of biology. I encouraged her to email me with any questions she has between sessions."
