"The student and I discussed different reading comprehension strategies and practiced grammar. We also spent time on essay structure."
"The student and I met today for our session. I decided that it might be best to go over each concept that the ACT English should cover. We went through the concepts systematically, talked about each one, and saw where she had any holes in her understanding. Overall, she did well. There were a few sections that she had a bit of trouble with, like idioms and consistency of tense, but she is a very quick learner. After we talk about how one of her answers was not the best answer, she goes onto the next question and does not make the same mistake. She still has a problem with nerves, but I think she's gotten better. She's also gotten faster, and I was able to see which questions she zips through and which she takes her time with. She tends to take more time with the grammar questions but is much quicker with stylistic questions. Though going over each concept can get tedious, I think it was very helpful. I asked her to take an ACT English test over the weekend and grade it. We will move onto math next week. I look forward to our next session."
"We continued work on vocabulary and started on passage-based questions. We also practiced the SAT reading section with timing."
