Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I played a drawing game with his recent list of vocab words as well as the last list. We took turns drawing and guessing, striving to keep the whole process under 30 seconds per word. He continued working on writing the story using the current vocab list."
"I worked with the student on his online school work. We completed lesson 12 for his language arts class. It was continuing his poetry unit. He was able to comprehend the abstract concepts of the poem by E.E. Cummings. He got 100% on his lesson assignment. After that, we read chapter 6 of his independent reading book and started chapter 7. We worked on strategies like predicting and making connections to the text. He worked hard and did a great job. He was focused and had a positive attitude the entire session."
"For our first session, I had the student read his homework passage out loud, so I could gauge where is reading skills are. I informed his mother that he needs to practices his phonics, spelling, and we have to build his comprehension skills. Next, I had him answer the questions that followed the passage, and his recall memory is fine. Finally, I had him read a passage from the "Tween Tribune" and answer questions that followed."
"Great session! We were very productive. The student and I worked collaboratively on his dialectical journals for his English class. He was very focused and worked diligently throughout our session. I look forward to working with him again so I can continue working on this task or any other English assignment that he may need assistance with."
"I am definitely seeing steady improvements in the student's TIED writing. She is also definitely more serious about it now that her skills are getting better and she feels more confident, although she still has times where she wants me to do it for her. I am seeing fewer vague, over-generalized statements, which is great."
"I answered his questions, and we practiced speaking English. He got a little better at reading, in my opinion. I left the student with homework, and we will start some listening materials next week."
