Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Went over the basics of genetics including Punnett squares and the branch method. Also discussed phenotypes and genotypes. Did numerous amounts of genetics problems."
"We covered some of the material that was going to be on the student's exam this week which included mass composition and using chemical equations to determine amount of substance produced/used. It was mostly review but hopefully we will have more on reactions in aqueous solutions next week."
"We worked through practice problems to implement concepts learned in chapter 2, which included the relationship between speed, distance and time, and velocity and acceleration."
"Today we reviewed some concepts on electrostatics and magnetic fields, in preparation for the student's semester exam. We discussed several concept questions for Lenz's and Faraday's laws, and discussed some concepts in Coulomb's law. We discussed some other various topic questions from the review packet, and she felt confident to end session to continue self-study."
"Today we went over the substitution method in pre-calculus. The student had no difficulty with this subject, and needed some help with the word problems dealing with investments, profits, revenues, and interest. This was only due to English being his second language. After I explained each problem, he was able to come up with functions for each problem. In chemistry, he memorized ions from the third and fourth group of the periodic table. I quizzed him and he did well. He is doing very well in both math and chemistry."
"Today we went over three worksheets the student had gotten in class. These worksheets covered density and volume calculations, atom number identification, and a lab write up that looked at the reactions between acetic acid and chalk. He is very enthusiastic about learning science, and is very involved in the tutoring process. I sent him 11 worksheets during the break for him to work on as extra practice."
