Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on turning fractions into decimals and percentages and looked over the work upcoming. He and I worked on finding percentages and proportions. We also reviewed the story of the Aeneid for his mythology worksheet."
"The student had a big history assignment we had to work on tonight over the Boston tea party. Her teacher wanted the class to figure out how to make an outline. I used this as a teaching tool and I taught her the proper way to create an outline for a History assignment. She understood the concept and executed it very well!"
"We studied for the student's history test. We went over her study guide and I quizzed her on it. She was able to easily fill out the map. Also, picked a few terms to put on her notecard for test. She seems to have a good understanding of the material."
"We worked on the student's vocabulary words and reviewed a science assignment on test of graspers and weights."
"Tonight was our last meeting before the student's test on the US Constitution. We went through the study guide once, each of us taking notes and writing down the most important information. Then we made his crib sheet flashcard while going over the study guide a second time. After this, the student was quicker and more confident in his answers to my questions. I am very anxious to see how he does on this test. I think he has a great chance at knocking it out of the park! I spoke with him also about staying organized and he explained to me his system right now. I gave him general pointers and tried to emphasize that this is as important of a skill as any."
"The student and I began by going over her GCF homework. She had breezed through the constants, but had only found the prime factorization for the monomials. We discussed what greatest common factor meant, and how to use that information (she had just forgotten a step). From there, we used the functionality of GCF to write simplified fractions of both constants and monomials. She learned about dividing exponents, and why we subtract them to solve. We ended the session with practice simplifying monomial fractions."
