Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we worked on graphing functions without a calculator using first and second derivatives. We also worked on finding the x and y-intercepts of a function and using all of the information in tandem to plot the function."
"We covered related rates for a variety of applications. The student needed help with the setup of the equation relating the different variables. He was very focused on understanding the problems, and keeping track of the steps taken to solve the problems."
"We covered transformations of functions (chapter 2) for the student's test tomorrow. We established a game plan for how to approach function transformations: 1) find the "invariant" points and any asymptotes; 2) plot any "easy" points, like where the function changes value; 3) plot the end behavior; 4) sketch everything in between."
"We covered velocity and acceleration as it relates to derivatives, section 3.4 in the text. We also went over part of a quiz she took recently. She did not have much trouble interpreting the graphs as we reviewed the homework and found the material very manageable."
"We did a review of the chain rule, product rule, and the quotient rule to prepare the student for his upcoming exam. We worked on a number of different practice problems and focused primarily on the chain rule which was where he had a bit of trouble. However he was able to become more familiar with it after we spent some extra time practicing it."
"We did probability, integration by parts, and trig integrals. We worked on knowing the first step or where to start. He seems to understand the concept of probability. The student is aware of where and how to begin certain problems. The student left happy so that's a win for me."
