Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has begun working with similar triangles and the geometric mean. After she got the hang of it, we went back and corrected her class notes."
"Today we covered parallelograms and all of the properties involved. The student showed how much she has improved since day one. We were able to get through a whole sheet of problems with limited help from me. She seems to really grasp the concepts. It is clear that she sees the logic and is able to follow step-by-step problems. I am very proud of her improvement."
"The student and I reviewed for his upcoming final. We went through all of his tests and quizzes and worked through the problems that he missed."
"Today I helped the student review all of the formulas we learned for circles earlier in the week including area and circumference. We reviewed how to find arc length or a sub area of a circle by using a proportion of degrees. Then, we covered the two new formulas that are used for calculating arc length and area based on radians. I covered the thought process behind the unit circle and what it means to think of angles and arc lengths in terms of radians instead of degrees. We then covered how to switch between the two using proportions."
"During our session today, the student and I prepared for the chapter test that he has tomorrow. He was given a multiple page study guide with example problems that he will encounter during his test tomorrow. The student was able to complete almost all of the problems with little to no help from me. I think he is very well prepared for his test tomorrow and he has shown drastic improvement since first meeting with him. Next session, we will start working on the next topics introduced in his class."
"During today's session, we began by discussing the student's quiz grade for sections 6.6 and 6.7. She did very well and we worked through one problem involving the distance formula for geometric shapes on a graph. Next, we reviewed practice problems for her placement exam for Algebra II next year. This test will result in her being placed in honors or regular Algebra II. I provided her with guidance on some of the problems and advised her on methods to practice the rest of the questions. I also recommended that she watch videos to review any topics that she may need extra practice on."
