"We did some reading comprehension activities today. The student is very focused and eager to learn. He was able to synthesize the plot details of the book really well. He needed some prompting for details when we were writing the summary, but really flourished when he was asked to illustrate the plot. We will work on trying new activities next time to see which ones work best!"
"I worked with the student on the same online assignment as we worked on last time. He needed to complete the essay response question. This unit covered poetry as well as conjunctions and interjections. He had a good understanding of the concepts. His biggest struggle was being able to focus his thoughts into an on topic answer for his essay. We used a whiteboard and graphic organizers to help him narrow his thoughts. After the homework lesson was complete, we read a Minecraft article. It was a 5th grade level text. The student and I took turns reading paragraphs. This seemed much more engaging for him, as he was able to connect with the material and was making personal connections and able to tell me about several different elements of the article mentioned."
