Duval County, FL Latin tutoring
We began reviewing vocabulary related to climate change and indigenous peoples. The student has the words that he struggled with highlighted in his book so that he can review them. I then had him read a text from the book for me and we worked on pronunciation and reading comprehension. He struggles with pronouncing the "r" sound in Spanish, so we were working on that. Next we continued working on the subjunctive form. We reviewed what we had done last week and I had a grammar exercise based on what we did last week. He did very well with it. The subjunctive conjugations don't come naturally to him and sometimes he has to think about them, but the more we practice the more he seems to be able to get it. I then went a little more detailed with the explanation of the subjunctive and how to use it, and we practiced with some examples I gave him and having him give me some examples.

We did some controlled practice with piecing vocabulary together into sentences, and then we worked into translation and autonomous production of present progressive sentences in order to describe a picture. Finally, we looked at some phrases involving problems that might come up in a restaurant. We used these to build and role-play dialogues, to focus on pronunciation. We wrapped up with a short video about ordering food in restaurants. She did extremely well in vocabulary and seemed very confident in that area.
