Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we discussed vector problems involving bearing. I demonstrated several examples for the student, then tested her comprehension by giving her problems to do on her own. She felt much more confident about her grasp of the topic after we were done."
" We covered exponential and logarithmic functions. The student had the opportunity to go through these problems with my guidance. The session went great."
"The student is learning about graphing hyperbolas and ellipses. She had questions from a previous lesson about graphs of circles. We went over her review problems, as well as older homework questions she had questions about. I showed her a strategy of sketching a graph when she is presented with problems about finding an equation for a circle that passes through given points."
"The student and I spoke about her recent exam, on which she achieved an 88%. We then jumped right in to working on problems dealing with conic sections, specifically ellipses and parabolas. We discussed the usefulness of the focus and the directrix in discovering the vertex of a parabola. We also spoke about how to determine where the foci lie in an ellipse. We also talked about how a circle is an ellipse with concurrent foci (the center). She seems to have a firm grasp of these concepts and should do well on her upcoming quiz on Wednesday."
"We solved problems involving finding the roots of polynomial equations involving synthetic division. By the end of the session, the student demonstrated that she understood the work by solving the problems correctly."
"The student and I reviewed complex numbers and equations in polar form. I asked that he do a lot more review tonight for his exam and to contact me with any questions he had from the review."
