Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed electromagnetics and waves; lenses and diffraction gratings. The student is a responsible young man, fully attempting each problem before asking for guidance."
"Learned about the high school equivalency course he's taking, and about his learning style. Defined my part of the process. Started lesson on nutrition. Topics included: calories, carbohydrates, protein, fats and 8 glasses of water per day."
"The student and I worked on the motion diagrams and conversions in her Physics book. We also worked on ways to find the limits of polynomials, including trigonometric limits."
"This was our first session to review and work on the student's college physics course. We covered kinematics in one and two-dimensions, paying particular attention to problem-solving strategies and writing out the kinematics equations for each independent direction of motion. We also reviewed vectors, vector components, physical diagrams, projectile motion under gravity in two dimensions, and how to approach choosing the right motion/kinematics equations to employ."
"This was the first session with this student. We started off by discussing the two lectures she had that covered heart failure drugs and anticoagulation medications. She had a good background understanding of the material, but needed help understanding how to differentiate between the different drugs and classes. We will continue meeting on a weekly basis in order to keep up with the workload."
"This week we worked on a problem from the lab handout together, but we mostly focused on going over old material and going over material for later this week. We discussed ionization energy and atomic radius in depth. Overall, the student understands the materials and things naturally click with her when explained once. She noted that her teacher does not lecture and only gives them pages from a workbook to do in class. So, I wanted to explain the material being covered in the curriculum and provide her with outside resources on the tutoring services website and other online resources that can serve as a lecture. I also provided her with pneumonic and visualization using the periodic table to help remember certain concepts. I think overall she is grasping the concepts but is struggling with chemistry terminology due to this being her first chemistry class."
