Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began with approximately an hour on essay strategies. We then reviewed the practice test he had taken over the week, figuring out the correct answer to each question he had missed . In Critical Reading, he is working with a new strategy where he saves questions on "tone of the passage" for later, which works well because after answering all the other questions he has a clearer picture of the tone and/or attitude of the author. For the last bit, we spent some time reviewing the student's large list of vocabulary words. I tested him on words that I thought would more likely come up on the test. Then we went back to the sections of the practice test that tested vocabulary, identified the words that he couldn't define, looked them up, and added them to his list."
"Today we reviewed a few problem styles in-depth. We looked at function-based math problems in the style of "x $ y," and reading questions involving comparison passages."
"We discussed strategies for writing the SAT essay and continued to build familiarity with the Math section."
