Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through the basic concepts of inheritance, polymorphism, and encapsulation of C++ class. We also discussed accessors and mutators. The student was catching up with the inheritance. He was motivated to learn the topic."
"We reviewed the difference between passing a variable by reference and passing a copy of the variable. We also covered different function methods, syntax, and introduced arrays and concepts. The student had a pretty good understanding of the material we were covering. I feel he is greatly improving his skills as a programmer."
"We covered an insert into a doubly linked list, especially at the end of the list. The student is working on a project that involves operations on the doubly linked list. He has made great progress on his own, but the program was dropping some items from the list unexpectedly. I showed him how to debug by cutting the size of the import file in order to isolate the problem. He will try to solve the problem of removing from the list before our next session, which should be the inverse of the insert."
"The student was having difficulty with recursion and inner classes and how to declare them and create instances of them. In our session, she made progress in learning the material. We covered LinkedList static methods and inline methods as well as overloading operators."
"During this session, the student finished her poker hands assignment. This involved a lot of critical and logical thinking about how many times a for loop should run as well as the types of comparisons that were required depending on the hand function we were working on. Overall, I think that she grasped the concepts pretty well."
"We covered C++, including structures, classes, and linked lists. We discussed how to gradually build the student's project."
