"The student has selected the artist for his WW I project: Otto Dix. He is going to write a contemporary magazine article about Dix's art after the war. We spent the bulk of our time discussing how to format a magazine article and then searching for sources to use."
"The student and I met yesterday to work on a history essay (with a focus on properly citing sources). We're going to meet again on Thursday to help him prepare for his math test on Friday. He let me know that he's doing well in his classes this semester, which is great!"
"We had originally planned to meet Friday, but the student wanted to do more writing, and he had indeed gotten close to 20 pages done. As we've done once before, we looked for potential sources of primary documents to back up arguments he's making in the paper. We looked for information specifically about the beginnings of subsidies to corn growers in the U.S. and found some sources that should be helpful. He also hopes to find sources showing the state of knowledge about the digestion of sugars relative to fats at the time of the development of high-fructose corn syrup. He wants to finish most of his paper by Monday. We are meeting then, probably mostly to work on the formatting of his citations and bibliography."
