Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tested the breadth of the student's algebraic ability, reviewing some of the finer points of first year algebra. He did very well, has a strong grasp on the fundamentals and is ready for some algebra 2/geometric work."
"Quadratic functions introduction. He hadn't gone over it yet in class so I did some introductions and examples. We looked at the general quadratic equation: y= ax^2 + bx + c As well as the form: y= a(x-h)^2 + k"
"During this session with student A, we found the area and perimeter of compound shapes (triangles+Parts of circles) as well as his lab research project were reviewed. With Student B, finding the area of triangles inscribed within circles for math, as well as Newton's 3rd law in physics, were reviewed."
"The student and I went over each of the 50 items on the pre-test study guide that he brought with him. We made certain that each problem was worked correctly. Those he missed, we discussed in detail showing the correct procedure. His performance was better than average overall."
"The student started a new chapter this week. It is the first time she explored linear functions. We took one hour to study the lessons; I think she absorbed them well. We also did some algebra one competition questions to extend her knowledge."
"We reviewed patterns and learned box and whisker plots. The student did not know how exponents worked, so we went over that. Once she reviews the topic, she is pretty good at it. She needs to keep up with practice so she does not forget how to do them. I asked her to practice the type of questions we learned so she is able to do them with ease next time."
