Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the asymptotes of an equation, using trigonometric identities and properties to find unknown values, and comparing original trigonometric functions to find values of other functions."
"We covered the law of sines and the law of cosines as well as ambiguous cases where it is possible to have no triangle, 1 triangle, or 2 triangles for a given set of angle and side information. The student didn't really struggle with the material; she just needed some clarification on using the calculator to find exact values from a graph. She understood the process very well after I did a couple of examples with her."
"We covered the subjects that would be on the student's final. They included factoring out sine, cosine, and tangent. We reviewed turning radians into degrees and vice versa, solving for a variable, verifying identities, and which formulas to use. She was struggling with the steps. She was very optimistic and was able to get it by the end. Taking her time and going through each step was a strategy I told her to use. I left her with notes and practice problems. She was attentive and easy to teach."
"We covered the take-home quiz that covered trigonometric equations and graphed a composite sin function. The student is making good progress in his understanding of solving basic trigonometric equations and the use of the unit circle. We lined up the next three sessions to prepare the Final Exam."
"We covered the unit circle and how to evaluate and manipulate trig functions based on the unit circle. I made sure the student knows he needs to memorize his unit circle thoroughly."
"We covered the unit circle and trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent, and their reciprocals). The student was struggling with understanding the concept of the unit circle, so I explained it to him and then showed him a "shortcut" to remember sines and cosines of major angles between 0 and 90 degrees. He caught onto that pretty quickly, so I watched him use that "shortcut" to find sines and cosines of angles between 90 and 360. He told me he now feels much more confident about the material, and after what he showed me today, I definitely concur."
