Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did a final exam review involving graphing solutions to system of equations, reformatting linear equation, and translating word problems to math systems of equations."
"Student 1 and I worked on word problems in her homework packet as well as long division. We also reviewed the material of different worksheets that her teacher had graded. These sheets focused primarily on force and gravity. We then went over ways to study vocabulary words and certain tricks to help her remember the various uses and definitions. We did a mock vocabulary test, and she was comfortable with the definition and word usage. I spent the rest of the session with Student 2. We went over a number of different worksheets and concepts that had been graded by his teacher. One of the areas that we focused on a great deal is that of present and past tense verbs. At the beginning, it was difficult for him to differentiate between them, but after review he felt confident and ready to move on to the next subject. We discussed shapes in his worksheets (faces, vertices, etc.) and spent the remainder of the session working on two-digit addition and subtraction. He really enjoys addition and subtraction and did very well with the more challenging problems I gave him."
"We went over one of the student's math worksheets to make sure that his answers were correct, then we worked on memorizing an essay that he has to recite on Friday."
"The student and I continued working on his reviews. Today we also went over questions that he got wrong on his previous tests and quizzes. He did very well today. He felt confident after the session because he was able to do problems that he had gotten wrong previously."
"The student and I briefly discussed how she's doing in her class and how she feels about it (and about math in general). Then, we reviewed her homework assignment, which was mainly trigonometry with a bit of solving quadratic equations. She seems to understand the material relatively well."
"We reviewed for the student's upcoming final exam. The material he wanted to focus on dealt with finding the vertical and horizontal asymptote, x and y intercepts, determining where the function increases or decrease over the domain, and finding the first and second derivatives. He did very well with all the steps to completely solve the problems. He should do well on his exam."
