Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student presented the story book he's been studying and showed great improvement. We practiced the past tense compared to experiential marker, we reviewed the question words, practiced conversation and discussed study practices."
"I gave the student two refreshers of vocab since he just came back from China. We did translation and comprehension exercises in the workbook, and we also started going over grammar on dialogue 2."
"Today we went over sample test 1 grammar and sentence parts. Student did a good job but also experienced a difficult time due to new vocabularies. I categorized all the question types again and reviewed our strategies for the two types of questions. Looking forward to next session in which we will go over the sample test 2 and finish the test 1 as well."
"We reviewed the flash cards made during the previous session before we moved onto the next part of the studying material. We added new words to the vocabulary stack and the student continues to improve on his vocabulary which will help him with his reading comprehension."
"I had my first session with the student today. The student and I started with basic introductions and greetings, then tested her a little bit to see how much she knew and how far she can go. She did remember some words here and there from her previous Mandarin learning experience, but in order to refresh and grow, I think I should start from beginning. I introduced her basic 4 tones of Mandarin so she can get use to the sound, then went through some numbers and colors. I asked her to practice just basic greetings and manners in Chinese so she can feel more comfortable with using the language. I encourage her to speak more and often."
"I just had a wonderful lesson with the student today. We talked about a lot of things in Chinese, and we also reviewed the things we learned in our previous lesson. I can tell he likes to learn Chinese a lot; he loves to ask me questions during the lesson and wanted to make everything clear. I am sure he will be great in Chinese since he is so passionate about it."
