Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student started trigonometric functions and the transformations of those graphs. Once she understood the patterns behind the graphs, it became easy for her to understand."
"In this session, we covered review topics on an exam the student recently took. Specifically, we covered properties of rational functions and how to find vertical, horizontal, and slant asymptotes. Furthermore, we also covered decomposition of rational functions and applications of precalculus. Student had a solid grasp of material and had additional problems to work on. No concerns of note."
"Today we went over her problem set for the week. This included synthetic division, completing the square, and finding the reciprocal of a graph."
"We worked on the non-calculator part of the student's review for her test on Tuesday. We spent the majority of the time working on graphs of trigonometric functions. We discussed how to find the x-values for specific points in order to graph the equations. We also worked on stretches/shrinks and reflections. At the end we worked on solving for x in trigonometric equations and transforming trigonometric functions."
"We covered the chapter review section on trigonometric identities, which will be featured on her upcoming test on Tuesday. The questions that we have covered ranged from simplifying an expression to finding the exact values of a trigonometric function. Overall, the session was excellent."
"In today session with the student, I covered mostly for reviewing for her pre-calculus test. Specifically, I helped her with concepts of binomial theorem, Pascal's triangle and problems. I explained and provided some practice problems and let her solve them and helped along the way. After that, I answer her questions about finding zeros for polynomial problems. Finally, I also went over physics homework briefly on kinematic motion. I was able to cover the student's specific needs today and our session was productive."
"We went through function composition and domain. The student understands the concept of function replacement, but struggles with her own notation. I helped her find ways to simplify the procedure writing process. We will cover plot manipulation next time."
"We covered log principles with different bases and product/quotient rules. We mostly reviewed the student's homework assignment for this subject and we're looking to bump up the test grade average in the future. With the practice during tutoring, I am confident that we can do that."
"We went over the next two lessons - critical points and asymptotes. She didn't have any trouble with critical points, but I quickly went through the lesson on asymptotes, and she still needs help on when values are/aren't asymptotes and we did not have time to discuss slant asymptotes. We will review this lesson again tomorrow."
"Covered asymptotes, long division, and squaring factors. Student seemed to struggle initially due to how her class is taught, but definitive improvement was seen at the end of session."
"The student had a packet of problems her class was working on, so we did some problems out of there that she wanted help with. Then she had a number of trig problems in her textbook to cover that involved basic trig functions like sine, cosine, and tangent."
"During this session we went over the student's quiz. We then continued the session by reviewing concepts of trigonometry question such as reference angles, trig functions etc. Overall this session went well."
