Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked much better today. She completed a spelling quiz for the next day. Then she worked on English homework."
"During this session The student and I reviewed spelling rules (suffixes). As a new practice this week we also explored a new set of sight words (4th grade level). To close our session, we worked on reading fluency."
"The student worked on reading and writing this session. We went over the assignment he did for homework, correcting for tense and punctuation errors. He needs to remember to go back and proofread his work. We also worked on two reading comprehension worksheets and I assigned him a short paragraph based on the reading."
"Today, the student reviewed her new sight word list. She is still working on sight reading (black, brown, ate). We also reviewed words with the short 'u' vowel ( bug, slug, rug, mug). She practiced reading a new story "One Rainy Day." This book has a lot of her sight words in it."
"Today, we began reading another book. We were able to get through four chapters. For this book, we will be integrating all of our previous meta-cognitive strategies to help the student internalize the information in the book. She breezed through the first four chapters, and I hope that she finds as much success with the next four chapters. For homework, she was going to read from 2-4 chapters, using one of the strategies discussed earlier of her choice."
"Today, we briefly reviewed all the concepts we have gone over: parts of speech, prefixes and suffixes, and the writing process. Then, we sat down and the student wrote the rest of his homework. Then, we worked to edit the paragraph and added lots of stimulating details."
