"The student and I worked on a review of her homework questions, and were able to get at least most of them correct. There were a couple in which she got them right; however, she didn't enter them in the correct format and hence got them marked wrong. She is a bright student, but is still learning and needs some guidance to help her figure out which info to use to get the correct answer. We will continue to work on this next session."
"The student and I worked on a specific portion of the times table (7s and 8s). He does well when physical activity is involved, so I incorporated a game challenge. He memorized all the times table numbers I gave him rhymes for. Next week, I would like to continue with the times table exercises."
"The student and I worked on a test review and some question for her final review, both for her physics class. She caught on to the concepts and question on the test review, and only needed a little help on the final review so far."
"The student and I worked on a worksheet about solving quadratic equations that was assigned to her for homework. I showed her how to graph the quadratic expression to estimate its zeros. We also saw examples of quadratic equations that have no solutions. She caught on quickly as we went through different examples. She had some difficulty recalling basic multiplication facts. That's something we can work on in future sessions."
"The student and I worked on ACT prep. We reviewed the kind of questions that the ACT asked about pronouns and verb tense. Then he answered 30 questions from the first English Practice test. We then checked the answers and the explanations for why each answer was the correct one. He did very well. He is in the 95% range. He is worried about the math, so we agreed that we would work on math next time."
"The student and I worked on adding fractions with unlike denominators. She had difficulty finding the LCD for each problem, so I taught her to multiply the denominators to find a common denominator, and she grasped the concept very quickly. We also worked on rounding to the nearest thousands place, and she did very well. These are the two math skills she has difficulty with, based on the placement test I gave her. She had a great attitude during our session."
