Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is doing great! Today we went over her homework on Algebraic Proofs. This assignment involved the properties of equality: reflexive, transitive, symmetric, etc. We also reviewed for her upcoming test, which covers the above concepts as well as inductive and deductive reasoning, types of numbers (real, rational, whole, etc.), and conditional statements. "
"The student is doing SO much better in math! She definitely still needs a tutor, but her confidence is growing, which is so great to see. LOTS of graphing today. We talked about: horizontal lines vs. vertical lines, linear equations versus non-linear equations, absolute value, parabolas, square foot functions, when functions are undefined and what that means, and square roots of negatives. Some good Algebra practice."
"The student is very good at algebra. She struggles with setting up the problem based on a diagram or written description but once we get her setup, she does really well completing the problem and finishing with algebra."
"The student is working on learning how to complete two-column proofs. So far, she understands the difference between properties of congruence and equality and how to use them to complete proofs. She thinks logically, and therefore is picking up the material fairly easily."
"The student is working to catch up on the missing work from last week. He has 4 worksheets that he needs to get done. We finished one, which dealt with solving equations, and that is due on Monday. The other three he needs to finish are due next Friday, and we will be working to get them done next Wednesday. I also showed him the main ideas behind significant figures and how to do algebra operations and taking them into account. I will provide more practice for that topic! Also, really excited about his 96% on his math test!!!"
"The student made great strides today in angle measurements. He just needs to take his time and not over complicate the material. When he did this, he was able to do his homework correctly like clockwork. We also covered a little bit of significant digits in chemistry, but he really just needed clarification on a few things."
