Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our first session, I did 30 minutes with Student One and 30 minutes with her sister. Student One and I went over how she felt about the entire subject and what specific topics she was struggling with. We started out discussing geometry, but she said she needed more help with chemistry, so we started with that first. We went over the concepts she was wanted to go over in the first chapter of her chemistry book. We covered concepts like diatomic atoms, exothermic and endothermic reactions, balancing equations, electronegativity, and putting together atoms to make compounds. First 1-hour session was divided into two 30 minute sessions between the sisters. First, Student Two and I discussed exactly what she didn't understand and how she was studying for her math class. She told me that she needed help with her homework, so we jumped right into her homework assignment provided by her math teacher. Her homework consisted of comparing masses of objects using the units grams and kilograms. We first discussed the relationship between "g" and "kg" and then estimated the masses of different objects listed on her homework sheet. We also discussed the meaning of the greater than (>), less than (<) and equal to (=) signs. There was one part of the homework assignment that required her to understand multiplication and division, which she stated that her teacher never taught the class. I helped her with that part and explained the basics of it."
"We did not do any lab work but I helped him study for his test coming up this Wednesday. He is making progress and we covered topics which included equilibrium, pH and rate law."
"We reviewed structures of solids, semiconductors, vapor pressure, and phase changes. We completed practice problems involving the density of unit cells of crystalline solids and phase changes."
