Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I helped prepare the student for his test tonight by discussing and working through problems related to derivatives of logarithmic functions, using derivatives to solve word problems, implicit differentiation, finding critical points of functions, and finding absolute max/min of a function."
"Calculus topics: relative maximum, relative minimum, absolute maximum, absolute minimum, first derivative test Statistics topics: conditional probability"
"Today the student and I went over first and second derivatives and how to use that information to graph the primary function. She was doing much better by the end of our session."
"In this session, the student started with his online homework, which consisted of "greater than and less than" algebra. We focused on incorporating negatives, which changed the rules. I also had some test problems where I taught him how to work through tests where answers stump him, giving strategies on attempting to solve but not spending too much time on one problem. I suggested circling the problem then moving back to the difficult ones once all of the easier problems are solved, to best use the allowed time."
"We went over a variety of challenging integration and derivative problems, involving functions in exponents, implicit differentiation, and the fundamental theorem of calculus."
"The student and I continued working on logarithms. We reviewed homework problems. He did very well with calculations of logarithms, but had difficulty with rules of logarithms. We did make some progress by comparing the rules of logarithms to the rules of exponents."
