Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has been working very hard going through her AP prep book. She has covered several chapters, and we were able to go over the questions which confused her. She is doing very well but is having some trouble with material she has learned earlier on in the year. With continued practice she will do very well. We have our next meeting scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m."
"First session since spring break began. Began covering new chapter on modern theories of tectonic behavior. Roughly covered half the chapter, discussing the evolution of the theory of plate tectonics and its support and reception, including fossil records, geography, and topography."
"We covered vectors, kinematics, forces, and Newton's laws. In this session, we focused on these 3 concepts as well as scheduled future studying and prepping for the AP exam. The student still needs help moving faster through the material. He has a prep book that he will be using for more practice. I have assigned chapters in the book to be studied before each session."
"The student has a biology final on Thursday. We spent the bulk of the session reviewing a final practice exam that his teacher had provided him with. I noticed the student was struggling with identifying the function of each organ so we spent time reviewing organ systems at the end of the practice exam. I also tried to give the student study tips when taking the exam such as skipping a problem he is struggling with and going back to it once he has completed the rest of the exam."
"We covered a general basis of the topics for the her biology assessment. She was struggling with staying focused when reviewing terms and also remembered hearing material, but could not recall it. Once we started going through the practice test she became more confident in the material. I left her with the practice exam so she can finish it, and we can review it later. I also gave her a website to do practice questions for the specific topics she was struggling with. I think this session was a success, as now the student feels a little bit more confident for the test now that she seen what the exam will look like."
"We started discussing plans for what the student may be interested in going over for the next couple of years. He also explained his research to me, and he will work on his paper and maybe a review article in the future."
