Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student was working on an engineering class in statics, and we worked through some intricate problems based on variable loads (in various shapes) and equilibrium. Once we figured out how to set up sums of forces and sums of torque equations for equilibrium cases (and employ given formulas for finding centroids and centers of mass for various shapes, he seemed to be much more comfortable with the material."
"With science, we went over meiosis and heredity. With pre-algebra, we did a few problems and addressed some issues that the student was having. We went over the merit of verifying answers by plugging in the answer into the original equation."
"The student is starting to study for the advanced placement exam. We worked on a review his teacher gave him. I gave him some sample questions to work on for next time and I gave him links to a few useful resources to help him study."
"We worked through her physics homework assignment related to the Lyman series, Balmer series, emission and absorption, quantum numbers, and shells/subshells of atoms."
"I looked over the student's project for his final grade on the spider. We went over as much of his study guide that we could for the final - cells and cell life, DNA and replication, photosynthesis, cellular respiration and the topics under each category. He remembered many of the topics and we went over the topics that he needed a refresher on. What's great is that he's able to bring a note sheet on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper with information for the final. We will continue to work on this next session."
"We covered some of the earlier material that the student had difficulty with - DNA replication. I was able to see her last two quiz scores, which have improved. Before I left, we tentatively scheduled another session and I left her with material to review so we can do a practice check in our next session."
