Went through some content in Numbers/Arithmetic: Operations with + and - numbers, fractions, decimals and percents, and percent change. He was rusty, but the content started coming back to him. Continued today with math. We went over several practice problems from the "easy" bin of the text. He will be using an online website recommended by me to build up his skills. We continued with arithmetic revision from the text, working up to page 105; this mostly concerned fractions.

Today, we met for the first time and I wanted to see what were his strengths and weaknesses. It turns out the student is a fast learner and has no problem understanding the core concepts. Today we reviewed how to translate word problems and data sufficiency into the formulas necessary to solve problems.

Did math problems from the guide. The student will do more problems on his own from the book. He is quite competent at most of the problems, and really just needs a bit of review on geometry and the more esoteric points of Cartesian coordinates (the distance formula, etc.). No problems here!

This was our last session and we ended on a good note. The student has already improved in her quantitative abilities, which we focused on for both hours. She just needs to keep a level head, as we discussed, and she'll be able to logically work through the questions on the exam. She'll be okay on Monday.
